This series of photographs, made in the very recent past, explores American aspirations and their accelerating collision with the reality of our present. Combining these images, which originated from the development of several different films, creates new meanings in their contrasts. The locations include Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, a city with an industrial past as the former home of Bethlehem Steel that haunts its present, the Coachella Valley of California and several others. This combination percolates with questions of what brings communities together and the meanings of their walls, gates, and fantasy.
